I come from a long run of arctic cats where I could put 5000 or 6000 miles on the motor and never think about taking the top end off. If you can hold 5 psi for 10 mins with the PTO elbow cap off your inner PTO & MAG bearing seals are good. If air passes through the PTO elbow your inner PTO seal is leaking. Typically the PTO side needs attention first. 2004 and up (600HO and 800 HOs, not 500ss) you can pull the clutch and remove the plate that protects/retains the seal and inject a bit of isoflex (dental irrigator syringes work great) into the bearings. If the primary clutch is kept from getting too hot the grease lasts the 600 hours no problem. When the motor gets too hot the life span goes down.
